Tonight as I was sitting here at the computer, watching TV, Bootsy was sitting on a throw rug near my feet and Lucky came in and got right up in his face. This I hadn't really seen before. Bootsy then went on the offensive and Lucky ran off, but Bootsy didn't go after him (in part because I got involved). It was really no big deal. It was like Lucky knew what he was getting into by making this overture and had his exit already planned. I was glad to see that. Lucky isn't afraid but rather seems to enjoy the situation and even pushes the limits.
As far as I know, the cats are getting along pretty well together when I'm at work, even if there might be minor skirmishes. I know they mostly sleep. (I wouldn't have made the decision to leave them alone together had I not been confident that Lucky would be able to hold his own. He has certain advantages such as speed and agility and can easily evade Bootsy now that he knows the layout of the apartment.) As I watch them interact like this (even though some of it might be for my benefit), I feel that the situation has greatly improved, with Bootsy becoming markedly more (if not totally) accepting of Lucky. Frankly I don't expect Bootsy to become totally accepting. But I think Bootsy's life is a lot more interesting and less lonely now that he has a new housemate.
