In Memoriam Chris

A fond co-worker died early this morning (after getting off work!). We'd worked together for more than six years. She'd just turned 59. She had a thing about going to the doctor and taking medicine, i.e. she didn't go to the doctor or take medicine (apparently she'd had a bad experience in the past--though we never talked about it in detail). She should probably have been under some kind of medical supervision, however. It appears she died of a heart attack. My own mother died of an arrhythmia at 59 (and she was under "some kind of" medical supervision), one week shy of her 60th birthday. (That was 22 years ago, and medicine has much improved.) R.I.P.
