I'm sick and tired of the media ganging up on certain well-qualified politicians who don't deserve it. Here I have to stick up for Hillary, basically. She's got a lot to offer, and the other front-runner, Obama, doesn't have nearly the amount of experience Hillary has. And experience does matter. Also, Obama's policy positions are not that well thought-out. Hillary's are. (As are Edwards's, but Edwards is not black or a woman, as Elizabeth said, so I don't think he's got a chance this time around.)
Also, Obama tried to pander to anti-gay potential supporters in South Carolina by hiring an anti-gay performer for one of his political events, but I could even forgive him for that. As I forgave Bill Clinton for "don't ask, don't tell." (I'm not a single-issue person.) It was the best Clinton could do at the time. Change does usually come incrementally. Almost every politician "triangulates" with the zeitgeist. Which I don't really excuse. (But I'm not a politician.) (Even FDR triangulated to make progress.)
Al Gore was the best candidate in 2000 and he essentially won. The American people are not stupid, even though the media tried to portray Bush as the person you'd most like to have a beer with (and Bush had already substituted born-again Christianity for booze). Now the media are trying to portray Obama as more cool than Hillary. So what if he is. He's a younger guy. That's no reason to vote for him. Let him get some more experience and I will vote for him someday. Meanwhile I plan to vote for Hillary--actually, I already have. I sent my absentee ballot in on Friday.
