Obama hype in the media

I could scarcely believe my eyes when I saw this illustration in Salon this morning. The article it illustrates begins: "Barack Obama's stunning victory in Iowa was a moment of national alchemy." "Alchemy" of course was a medieval pseudoscience whose aim was to turn lead into gold (it didn't work).
