'Sexually Active New Yorkers in Denial About HIV Risk'

Story from The Advocate.

New York City residents think that they are at low risk for contracting HIV, despite their high-risk activities, according to a study by the city's health department that was released Thursday. The report shows that 18% of New York City adults have multiple sex partners or inject drugs, and that of this group 92% do not think they are at risk.

The Associated Press reports that the results of random blood sampling by the city found that 1.4% of adults in New York are HIV-positive, a rate nearly four times that of the rest of the country.
