Got a good night's sleep and stayed in bed till shortly after noon. I needed the R&R. Yesterday my shoulders were aching (from Wed.'s trip to the gym?) but today they're fine. I try to sleep on my back to keep pressure off those joints.
I kept today open and unstructured since I've had way too much weighing on me lately, this past week in particular. But I just now managed (after months of putting it off) to begin spackling the dings in the kitchen ceiling and do some sanding. I'll probably do more tomorrow when the spackling has dried. Of course I'm motivated to get this done before the new cabinets go up.
Today I printed out the bus schedules for a trip down the road to the nearest gay bar. (With the prospect of three blank days stretching ahead of me, I got serious cabin fever.) Now that the roadwork on U.S. 1 has been finished, it shouldn't be a problem getting down there (to Magnum). I drove down several weeks ago, taking the back way, and the parking was horrendous. It was also dead (after 10 o'clock on a Saturday night), and no sooner had I scored a parking space than I was back in the truck, driving home. No one was at the outdoor "Shack" (except a bartender or two) and few were inside the lounge. (The restaurant must have been busy, however, judging by the parking situation.) But I'll give it another chance, since I have to get my ass out of here.
Today I had some human contact at the usual haunts: Starbucks, Flanigan's and Jamba Juice. Sat reading the magazine. I think I'll go back to Starbuck's now and get another cup of coffee. Feeling a little tired but not in the mood to try to nap.
Bootsy has been keeping me company (and vice versa). Today I put some of Lucy's ointment in his ears--not easy to do with him--since he's been scratching at one of them. It appeared he needed the treatment. I'll do it again tomorrow.
Happy 4th of July, everyone! I guess Bootsy and I'll watch the fireworks from the terrace at around 9:00.
