I agree. But then Steve says, in his giddiness perhaps, we're back to being the "greatest country on the face of the earth." That comes across as a bit grandiose to me (to say the least). We were until just yesterday the dumbest country on the face of the earth, for having elected George Bush and then re-electing him. Some humility is in order. Our rehabilitation won't happen overnight.
At the very least, we can return to "normal" and get some important things done--which includes undoing a lot of the mess the Bush administration has heaped upon us. And then we have many other problems to solve--like health care, one of the most pressing (and which "lesser" countries have long since come to terms with).
