More Thursday night

Rachel Maddow recently did an extensive interview with Colin Powell. (I haven't been following it closely.) I always liked him until he helped enable the Bush Administration to invade Iraq. He allowed himself to be used. Now he's trying to rehabilitate himself, so to speak. But he'll never get a Nobel Prize. See Digby here.

On "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," which Powell supported ("a pretty good solution at the moment"), Powell thinks it should be reviewed.

Clifford Alexander, former Secretary of the Army (and an African-American), calls "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" a "bowl of bigotry surrounded by a curtain of silk." It's still bigotry. He says service should be based on skill. Look at all the Arabic translators who have been kicked out, for example (as was pointed out).

Michelle (and Barak, too) really made an impression in London. Been watching the videos of the Obamas canoodling with the Mountbattens. Hugs are nice. (Click on photo to enlarge.)
